ice maker stopped making ice

Another inside project, ice maker stopped making ice. The ice maker goes trough it's normal cycles but isn't making ice. I put a few ounces of water in tray and it will make ice. So for some reason, either the micro switch in ice maker or the water solenoid isn't working, water isn't getting to ice maker. I checked to see of the water spout was frozen. Checked to see if I have water to refrig.

I located the water solenoid, but it uses a plastic connector similar to pex to attach the hose to the solenoid. I have no idea how to remove the plastic hose to install a new solenoid. This may be a long process trouble shooting my problem. Almost impossible to get to the wires going to solenoid to measure voltage or coils resistance. Another inside project.

Our icemaker has not worked quite right from day one. It has never made a full tray, and most of the ice cubes it does make are hollow. It does not come apart, so I can't make any adjustments, or even trouble-shoot it. Been putting up with it for about 18 years now.

The wire and the water line should just pull off the solenoid. Get your model number and then go to this site partselect.com it will give you the part you need and a short video on how to remove and replace the solenoid valve. This is the most common thing that prevents the ice-maker from working.

Ours did that and we had a guy out to fix it. He put some $130 part on it that didn't fix it at all. We replaced the filter (ours is located under the sink) & it makes ice great now. Whenever it needs the filter replaced the ice maker acts just like yours sounds. Might be worth a try. Keith

I had trouble with mine a couple years ago, it has the freezer on the bottom,, it turned out to be the door switch,,seemed the switch wore a bit and the drawer sagged a bit and the switch, located at the top front, was not hitting good enough,, I glued a plastic strip to the edge of the switch and it has worked well ever since..

Mine did the same thing,I messed with it a lot of the summer. It would work a little while then quit,I bought ice all summer got tired of that.I called Evansville appliance parts they ad complete ice maker and water valve in stock for $240.00 .l got on Amazon and got both of them for about $85.00 ,got them in about 3 or4 days.Took about an hour to put them in been making ice like a champ ever since. Hint go to you tube before you start it will walk you through it step by step. It's a snap.

If it was me I would call Evansville Appliance parts, give them the Make an Model # they will look it up and give you the part #s .Just type them in on Amazon. They was real nice about it to me.

Good Evening George

Here in Az . Our water has so many minerals that never even bothered to hook mine up .
I buy the cubed ice and pour it in the holding bin to disperse .I like that alot better .
I keen getting notices to change my filter , you'd think after a 1 & 1/2 years they would figure it out .
