JOKE----- Engineers--car won't start

The Mechanical engineer says: "It's a broken starter". The Electrical engineer says: "Dead battery". The Chemical engineer says: "Impurities in the gasoline". The IT engineer says: "Hey guys, I have an idea how about we all get out of the car and get back in".

A person with an engineering degree ask how does it work? A person with an accounting degree ask how much does it cost? A person with a abundant arts degree ask if you want fries with that?

....and the REAL mechanic/tech realizes he has to ask all the pertinent questions of the owner and then proceeds to diagnose it first time and for half price, whereas the "paper on the wall" guys figure they already know it all and "the owner doesn't know what he's talking about anyway" and they need to pay for that "paper on the wall" somehow. One in five engineers in the factory where I worked ever came down to have dialog with the people who had to deal with their "dream". That "one" engineer was also captain of the debate team in HS and had a degree in human resources...imagine that. Without "people skills" a degree is worthless.

My auto mechanics teacher in high school had worked in Detroit for years before becoming a teacher. He said when he started at one of the mfgs he had an office all the way in the back. I guess the closer to the front your office was,the more important the job, or the more seniority you had.

Anyways, he said he's go in every morning and cuss the engineers along the way, as he headed back to his office, for the stupid stuff they designed that he had to deal with. He said it didn't take long and he has a nice office right up front.

One of his favorite sayings was basically, "Engineers work in pairs. One comes up with some dumb a--- design, and then the other finds somewhere to put it to insure it can't be worked on when it breaks." Not the exact words he used, but the thought expressed is the same.
