A few odds and ends!!!

Well Dave's post below about WILD cats made me want to post this picture of the latest barn "wild" cat the wife has as a pet. About a month ago the wife call me about a kitten she found treed in the shed. The little girl was hanging on a rolled up extension cord to keep out of the dogs reach. She just barely had her eyes open. My wife hand feed her baby formula every few hours for 3-4 weeks. She now is eating on her own and is a holy terror. The Christmas tree is getting a work out. LOL The picture is of her at the top of the tree looking out.

Another time passing sign. For the last 7-8 years we had a small kid's bunk bed in the corner of the living room. My younger Grand Children where spending enough time here that it was used pretty regularly. The younger kids where too afraid to sleep up stairs in the two old farm houses we lived in. Well we just need some room in the down stairs for the Christmas tree this year. So I moved the kid bed up stairs. My two younger Grand sons where quite upset when they came over and saw that their "bed" was not there. I of coarse had to tease them and told them that their bed was up in the attic where the bats are. They went home and told their Mom and Dad that. LOL It just is in one of the upstairs bed rooms. They are old enough to stay up there now. Actually I an watching out for a set of full twin bunk beds as they are getting to tall for the smaller one we currently have. We are keeping the smaller one as there are more Grand Kids that will be old enough to stay with Grand Pa. It is still kind of a time passing deal as this "crop" of kids is about past where they will want to stay with Grand Pa anymore.
This picture is of the younger boys in the bed 5 years ago or so.

I have one kitten in the house right now that was left to die by its mother but we had a cat inside that had kittens so we gave it to her and it is doing well. Then Thursday morning one of the Manx cats in the house had 3 kittens. Half Manx and Shiemise (sp. Most of the cats around my place are at least tame enough to be able to pet when it is feeding time. To many cats here but almost never see a mouse.
By the way that auction house where you got that dyno from is closed now

I wondered how he would do much business by the looks of things around there. It seems that there is pockets of business around you that are doing OK but it looked like many more where struggling to make ends meet. Also the Bypass seemed to really hurt a bunch of the local business by you.

Ya the 543 bypass in Osage Beach ha hurt many and some have gone under because of it. We had a Burger king but when they where building the new hwy they closed off any way to get to them so they had to go out of business. But this area has always been an area where you see a lot of new places and they do not last long. Or they think there doing good and move to a bigger place and go under

Have a few out door cats and all of the females get fixed at the local shelter program. They still mouse so they earn their feed. To calm down kittens other than catch them young and cuddle the dickens out of them. Trap or catch them and I put them in one of those fold up wire dog cages. Old towels, litter pan, water, and food. Handle then as much as possible and they get used to it and also figger out where the food is coming from! Takes a couple of weeks till then and I have had good results. Done it with four of them and they are all nice to handle cats now. This is Tigger and someone dumped him behind my local dealer this spring. He is now around eight months and has ME wrapped around his little paw. What a totally SPOILED animal. Sleeps on the bed right next to the pillow and purrs himself to sleep. In the morning as I wake up he wants to climb up on my chest. He lays there purring and then slowly....... slowly inches forwards. Then he makes a little lung and with his cold wet nose gives me a kiss! Ewwwww kitten spit! He is a real hand full. Don't let that furry face fool you!

JDseller,

Aw heck, just tried not to respond, but have to anyway. I am now the owner of a stray cat, along with "building"; a foil-lined styrofoam cathouse with a lightbulb for heat.

I told the misses that I don't like cats, period, but I can't let a pleasant critter freeze without food, water, shelter. Dangit. I am getting softer as each year goes by.

Little cat is in the bucket/shelter as we speak, I would not sleep well if that cat hadn't figured out where the warmth was.

Dangit.

I grew up in a 1600sqft 1 & 1/2 bath Ranch with 12 brothers(8) and sisters(4). My parents started buying Ranch Oak bunk beds and dressers after the first 3 of us were born. Ended up with 6 sets of bunks and 6 dressers. All of them are still in use today with the oldest set 60 years old. As kids go, we were hard on furniture. My wife has tried for years to get me to get rid of the 2 dressers and one set of beds we still have. It ain't happening. Already have a grandson using one dresser (we use the other) and he will get one of the beds (we also use the other in the spare room) when he gets a little bigger. The furniture will be around for his kids (I'll be long gone) if they'er smart enough to keep it.
