Wife just called , car overheating , no idea whats leaking . 4 hours away in Illinois . Man I hate this. Told her to call 911 , got trooper and tow truck coming . Could be worse I guess.
 
That's like what happened here one time. I had told the boy not to head home from college for Christmas until daylight Christmas Eve morning,but he left about 11pm the night before. He called from Ft Wayne Indiana at 1am. The alternator had gone out. The wife and younger son had to take off and head down there to get him. They got a motel,got a rebuilt alternator the next day,changed it and drove on home. I had to milk cows,so there wasn't anything I could do.

This is one good time to own a cell phone. Glad she was able to find some help. Things could have been a lot worse.
 
I had a Fed Ex Home Delivery route for just over a year. My first area was the ------ Iowa area-which meant all the way up to Manilla-starting in Council Bluffs. I live in Omaha. I told my wife and daughters, unless somebody is dead or close, don't call me, there is nothing I can do about it! I HATED that job because of that feeling!
 
thanks Dave, gonna see what tow truck says . Maybe blown hose ? Everything was replaced year and half ago , motor , radiator belts hoses etc. She has couple friends bout hour behind her she can ride with once figure out what to do with truck
 
Bryan just let me know I have a good bumper trailer your welcome to use to go get the vehicle. I would not be out of your route to IL. I hate things happening on weekends while traveling. I tell the kids and wife to travel during normal business hours if they are far away.

Hope your wife has a little faster service from the Illinois st police than my son and his wife did back in August. They were in the process of moving from Springfield to Foxlake Ill., already moved a U haul full a couple weeks earlier and were on their way back for the rest, stopped and got my truck and his wife followed in his car. She straddled a semi tire tred and took out the radiator and cooler lines 2o miles north of Bloomington. He called me about 7:15 on Friday night, I told him to call 911 and they'd call the st. cops and a wrecker, the cop didn't show until about 10 and the wrecker dropped his car at the Chevy dealer in Bloomington at about 12:30. I sure wouldn't want to be standing along I 39 half the night without a gun.

AAA would be a nice Christmas present... I have a tow truck but had rather work and wait for AAA to at the least get my family to a safe place....
 
yea,,used to have it years ago.Might be time to sign up again . They got ride to town , waiting at Hardees for friends to pick them up . Car towed to shop , will find out whats up in the am .
 

Know what you mean I hope I never need to use it myself and sometimes I wounder why I keep it. I just keep signing up my kids under my plan and they do not question there age. The cost is minimal to me for there lifetime tow/breakdown coverage that's gonna come out of my pocket one way are the other.... After all its the least I can do to supplement there lifetime labor and parts warranty...

Galesburg?
They got ride from trooper to Hardees, got friends picking them up . Car towed to shop , they will call in the morning . Decide to have them fix it or take trailer if major .

I'm 35 minutes from Galesburg. If you need help with trailer or fixing let me know.
 
My daughter was driving our chevy chevette years ago. It started over heating. She tried to drive home. the car stopped on the freeway. She started walking. Lucky some nice couple stopped and picked her up. That was in the days before cell phones. Stan
