The weather twit kinda....

...messed up!!!

I was told by the young lady on the news this AM that their would be NO accumulation on the roads until MAYBE 4 AM when it was cold enough that the snow did not melt on contact. So I figured I would head out to where the combine is and run that thar compression check. Roads some of the worst I have seen. Huge tow truck came backarsewards out of a side street trying to get to one of the many accidents and nearly took the roof off the car. Couldn't get thru, the traffic was stopped dead. Had to turn around. Decided I could check that oil pressure tomorrow.

Did the same here, only we ended up on the good side. Forecast was for 5-8" with blowing and drifting, we got maybe a couple and no drifting. Very little cleaning to do I may not do any we're s'posed to get back into the 40's-low 50's with rain by Thanksgiving. LOL do I believe them?

Big change here in So. MI. Branch co. had 4-5", roads slicker than snot, 30 mph, lots of wrecks. 80 miles east in Ann Arbor, just wet. Crazy weather.

It's still melting on the roads and the dirt surfaces up here. Not a lot of accumulation even on the grass. The ground's too warm.

You've been having quite a bit of trouble on the roads lately Dave.
If I were good at math, I'd look for the common denominator!

Stay home, stay warm, stay safe! :)

Wife drove 60 miles west today to help her mom, said she about fell over twice in the parking lot, coating of snow and slip all over there. We got no precip, it was 19 degrees or colder last nite tho, sunny but cold right here today.

If they sound like they're in a panic don't believe them,no. The one that got me last night was the commercials running during other shows. "How will the snow effect your weekend plans?! Tune in at 11 to find out!".
Well if you'd been watching television at any time in the past week, you were PLANNING on snow! Bunch of lame brained panic mongers.

Just went outside with my tape measure and 1 spot said 9" the other one said 10". It's now 5:21 PM and still snowing, hasn't quit all day long..

Yeah. The Chief Meteorologist at one of our local TV stations is heartbroken if there isn't something negative in the weather he can try to create panic over. His "weasel word" is "potential". He always says there is the "potential" for 12" of snow or something similar. Then after he's sensationalized it and it doesn't happen, he's off the hook because he simply said the potential was there.

If the forecast for the next several days was 75 degrees and sunny, he'd find something negative to say about it. And he can take 15 minutes to say, "It might rain tonight and then again it might not".

I walked out the door at 5 pm tonight to feed the animals with a tape measure. I got about 8 inches around the yard and buildings. I guess I'll be glad I took the time to dig the snow blower out of the barn last night. I originally figured the front end loader would be enough for the cleanup tomorrow. I'm about 50 miles North of Detroit.
My wife is flying back from Florida tomorrow afternoon. I called her and told her she might want to hang their for a few more days.

Well the official count here in the Howell area is in....14" of snow. They say it is going to melt and the ground under it is pretty dry so hopefully...not too much mud to deal with. Maybe it is time for me to get into cattle? I was thinking about it a while back. Then the market tanked. Pretty impressive. Now I only have to THINK about investing in something and the bottom falls out of it. :)

If it was supposed to be 75 and sunny, they'd spend their whole allotted time warning about the danger of skin cancer.
