Dads $500 Oliver 770

Here are some pictures of the Oliver 770 my dad bought at an auction last weekend for $500. He was the only bid. I forgot to take a picture of the stuck Super 77 that he bought for $100, again, the only bid. The 770 was sold as not running, but after putting a new sediment bowl gasket on it, shining up the points, checking fluids and adding gas, it started right up. Didn't even have to charge the battery. We do have to rebuild the carb as sometimes the float sticks and runs gas out the front of the carb. Dad didn't have all of the side panels on it or bolted back down yet when I took the picture. Whenever he buys an Oliver with side panels at an auction and has to run home to get his trailer, he first removes all the panels and takes them home with him. He had a set stolen off a tractor he bought one time after he left it to go get his trailer.

I'm not even sure what kind
or size they are, I didn't
even look, but they are
exactly the same tread as the
ones on his 660, only a
little bigger I believe.

that's 3 grand less than i paid for my 770 and it doesn't have wide front or 3 point hitch.
i'm not complaining i'm thinking that's 4 or 5 thousand than a 3020 john deere

Ross, good deal! Here is the 770 my dad bought that was sold as a parts tractor for $650 any only needed rewired and I thought that was a steal. I received the air cleaner and looks good maybe stick it on later. Thanks again. Greg

That is a good looking 770. Funny how people sell stuff cheap and don't even try to have some look at it if they can't look themselves. That is the same style as the diesel 770 dad has. His uncle bought it brand new.

That pic was around 1994 and I was trying to make a deal on a 1650. Sold it in 1994 and just this summer it showed up at a friends house that is also an Oliver nut. Has a rear end problem and they offered to sell it to me maybe next year! LOL Greg

I can't believe you didn't make it to that one. Even if you didn't know about it, no excuses lol

1206, dad has only had bargains like that a couple times, even he said he said he couldn't believe he only paid $500 for it. He has a buddy that always goes to sales/hunting/looking at junk/farming, with him (he is a big Cockshutt guy) that told dad he should be watching for the cops because dad stole that 770.

I thought there were some very good deals at the auction I went to Thursday- (JD 2840, Hiniker cab and duals 3500 hrs for $9k, 2350 with SG cab and 540 loader 3000 hrs $9250). The winning bidders were a group from "AgDirect" or similar, I'm sure they would have bid up if challenged. I may have been the only retail price buyer there :(

Great buy! The way my luck runs, if an item is going for almost nothing and I bid on it, everyone else suddenly decides they need it too!
