John Deere 2010 & 2020

Hi there. I am about to acquire a JD 2010 tractor, and also looking to purchase a loader for it. I'm told the loader came off a JD 2020 tractor. I'm wondering if the width and all other necessary dimensions are the same for the 2010 as they were for the 2020. In short, will a loader that came off a 2020 fit onto a 2010? Thanks,

Joe

Here's a link to the loader:

Well several things:

1) The JD 2010 was one of, if not the worst tractor JD ever made period!!!! The hydraulics where poor when new and even worse with 50 years of wear.

2) The JD 2010 and the JD 2020 are two different families of tractors. The mounting would be different. The loader your looking at can be modified to fit but it is not a bolt on job.

3) If you do buy the JD 2010 check the hydraulic pressure out before you buy it. The hydraulic pump is in the belly and a real pain to change and they are not cheap. IRC they are in the $1500 range. If the pressure is low I would keep walking and find a better tractor.

The only thing that has raised the price up on the JD 2010s is that guys are collecting "new Generation" tractors and want a complete set so they want a JD 2010 and JD 1010 to have a full set. Until 5-10 years ago you could buy them all day long for $2000-3000 in good shape. Ones with troubles would bring scrap price. I can remember back 20 years ago that a pump replacement and new lines, with labor, was over $2000.

And to add and agree with JDseller the 2010 will have a open hydraulic system and the 2020 will have a closed system, the valves will not interchange,,I would tell a friend to skip the idea....the out come will not be good....

Thank you for the valuable information. Not the answers I was hoping for, but valuable nonetheless. Thanks again.

As you have been told run do not walk away for a 2010 parts are hard to come by and if you do find them they cost an arm and leg. I learned that the hard way when we picked up a 1010 which uses many of the same parts as the 2010 the 2 worst tractor JD ever made. Also the 2010 is not a friendly tractor when it comes to working on them also BTDT and had a guy who owns one and I have worked on it too many times and always a pain to work on

I'll be one to disagree here. Although the 1010 and 2010 tractors do
seem to be more troublesome than others, there ARE good ones out
there! We own both and they are our primary hay tractors and have been
for the last 20yrs. I would not be afraid to buy either one, just be
sure to check it out good before hand.
