3020 jd oil bath filter

I checked my oil bath bowl and while I had it off I looked up at the filter inside the cannister and seen that It was nearly stopped and very caked up with dirt since it runs in oil I know that is gonna happen but I was wondering if you can change the filter inside there because I could not get it to slide out or move and it's in need of changing

Filter canister is designed so mesh can't be easily removed from it.

When I worked for Allis Chalmers dealer, being the bottom feeder of the shop, I did all of the steam cleaning and always steam cleaned the mesh with every engine tear down. Sometimes break the spot welds and take mesh out for better cleaning.it would go back in without too much trouble.

a lot of the service manuals suggest washing it in kerosene. the steam cleaner idea sounds good too. Bill

I'll give it a try if the steam cleaning don't get it done I'll try the karoseane, thanks for the help

Remove it from the tractor. Place it in a container of diesel fuel. Let it set for about 1 hour. Agitate it up and down a few times. Let it set again, and then pull it out and let it drain.

I use gas to clean them!
