I am at a loss. I can't decide which UTV to purchase. I really like the new Diesel MULE PRO FXT. I have a RTV900 right now. I like the Kubota I have now. Just looking for a new machine for the farm. Kubota is coming out with a new 4 seater RTV in December with all four independent suspension. Don't know if I should wait for one of those or go ahead and get a Diesel Mule Pro FXT that just came out. I use it mainly around the farm doing chores. Not much trail riding. But I do want four seater machine and I think I would prefer diesel. Any recommendations? I haven't looked at Polaris or John Deere? How are their machines.

I want a machine that will hold up and not give me any trouble.

Thanks

My two cents.
I have a 2015 825i gator two seater. Does everything I need and more. Looked at Polaris 900 ranger. They touted being 300 pounds lighter than the gator. I prefer the weight to me it's built heavier. I can't figure out where the extra 300 lbs are.

Neighbor has a 2012 825i 4 seater. Loves it too. Except he constantly complains it takes 40 acres to turned It around. Mine is much tighter turning.

Friend has a 15 mule pro-fxt 4 seater (6 seater) mostly trail rides it. Loves it. Has the same 825 engine as the gator. Only complaint is that wide turning because of length.

I know that doesn't exactly answer your question, but maybe helps a bit.

We have always Polaris on the farm. Have 2 rangers and 3 atvs now. Never had any trouble. Two years ago I bought a 550 4 seat gator for the kids( its not near as fast as the rangers) The engine in it blew a head gasket and deere replaced the motor but other than that its a nice machine but would like to sell it now that kids are older and get me a razer!

As my Daddy would say, Son, you do what you think is right & if it's wrong?

There's only one person to blame...

Just got a friends back from the repair shop. This is a 1999 Polaris Ranger. This is the first time it has been back for repairs. Sixteen years without repairs sounds might good record to me.

I have a 2010 Polaris big boss. Hasn't needed anything but normal maintenance so far. Previously had a 1998 big boss until I bought the 2010 model. The 1998 model didn't need anything except normal maintenance.

The 2010 model has the all wheel independent suspension. A big improvement from the solid axels on the 1998 model. The 2010 also has engine breaking which I also find this as a big improvement.

I have been 100% pleased with my three Polaris Rangers. I have never abused mine not even once but they get used & I mean used every day. Gerald

One reason I picked a gator over a ranger. The distance between the back of the front fender and the seat is approx 2 inches longer on the gator. With size 15 boots I need all the room I can. I use mine to work, so I am on and off many times a day.

What ever you buy look at the maintenance schedule. Complete Oil change on my 4010 mule $175. Check valve clearance $200. Shop rate $90/hr. If you can't do your own work, better be ready to pay. Parts are out of sight. Where I live, young kids are working in the shop. So I purchased the shop manual, the same manual the dealer uses and learned how to do my own work.

If I had it to do over, I would get the simplest thing to work on like the 610 mule. It's a simple single cylinder air cooled engine, carb instead of a computer. If you can work on a go-cart, you can work on it. Can you repair a Diesel?

I know Can Am is not usually thought of in the work horse category, and not generally considered as reliable as say Honda or Yamaha. But, Polaris thrown into the mix, I'd think Can Am should fit in there somewhere. I'm not saying you should get one as I don't know of many around here either, but FYI I just saw they have a new actual utility model out. I don't think the 4 seat version is out yet, not sure if it's coming or not. But, engine tuned a bit different, transmission, etc. for more low end grunt. What little reading I did on it they interviewed farmers, etc. to see what they wanted. For now, 3 year warranty included.

Most guys around here have the Pioneer 700, despite not very good gearing, some guys drive them around like pickups, 10+ miles down the road often. They go by all the time. The 1000 is out and "should" be reliable. One neighbor has a Polaris 900, haven't heard much good about them locally. I have never seen Kubota or Gator UTVs around in my area, and every place I can think of has an atv/utv of some sort, just not them. They sure are handier than pickups driving cattle from pasture to pasture.

Forgot to mention the "interesting" thing on the Can Am, no break in maintenance, one year, 200 hours, or 1865 miles before the first oil change.

There are videos, reviews, etc. if you search.

Myself, I'd just get a little Honda Pioneer 500, I don't need passenger room, and my old Deere 2510 fits everywhere, so don't need a "heavy" utv. 500 fits in a pickup box.

how about a new Holland rustler they have 4 seaters and diesels seem like pretty rugged machines.I believe they have I.R.S. but not 100% sure on that one.

Well they showed the new 4 person at dealer meeting last month and everyone seemed to really think they were nice. If you are satisfied with the 900 Kubota you know what dependable unit you will be getting with the new model.

I've got an 825i gator. It has needed way too many repairs and I'm pretty easy on it. I'm not that impressed with it. Fuel pumps, pressure regulators, injectors, CV joints and boots, water pump, and lots I have forgotten. Bought it new about four years ago or so.

I've had a Mitsubishi Japanese mini truck for a year or so now. It gets used every day and REALLY used. I pull hay wagons with five round bales on them through the pasture and pens in the mud. It cannot be beat. I would be totally lost without it. In the summer the gator is nice because you get more breeze and it does not have doors to be in your way. I've quit driving it until next spring though - it's just too nice to do chores in the little pickup with the heat on. It was cheaper than a gator and much more useful. The law in Kansas is that I can drive it anywhere but the interstate (on farm business).

Why not just get a used CJ jeep. CAH and radio, room for 4, can drive it to town. I don't se 14k or more for a farm ute.
