Everything is down from Friday morning. Why? Don't know.

Corn is at 3.58. Friday was at 3.60. Overnite is up slightly.

Beans at 8.54. Friday 8.69

Wheat at 4.92. Friday 4.99

Beef at 1.31 down from Fridays 1.33

Hogs at 54.80 Friday at 56.10

And lastly milk is at 15.41 a penny below Friday.

Could be a better day if markets would cooperate.

At 150 bushels per acre, that's $537 per acre, $716 at 200 bushels, and $1074 at 300 bushels, right? Can anyone give about the general cost of raising that acre to put it in perspective? Unless I'm missing something, some of these land rental prices I've been reading about on here would be "slightly" optimistic from a profit standpoint?

Quick estimate--

Seed $100 per acre

P and K fert. $80.

Nitrogen $90.

Herbicides $40

Fuel $12

Machine costs $80

So about $400 inputs without a lot of frills. You add rent of $300 that many are still paying (some even higher) and you are at $700+ an acre.

Most will get less than the Chicago price some will get more depending on location.

Anyway you need 200 bushel corn at $3.50 a bushel to break even.
