My first diesel tractor, a Kobota BX 2233 sub compact. The question is what, if any, additive should I use? ( It has 500 hours, bought used). thanks in advance, joe

Been with Kubota 28 years, your BX does not need any additives if your use the recommended oil. In the hydrostatic transmission it is better to used KUBOTA supper UDT fluid.

If you live in an area where the temps get close to zero degrees f than you should use a diesel fuel additive that prevents the fuel from gelling. There is little else that needs anything added just because it is a diesel. Be sure that you have antifreeze protection for your area and you should be good to go.

Hello old-9,

None! Diesel fuel at the pump is blended for the area it is sold in. I would star fresh with all new filters and engine oil. Then put her to work,

Guido.

Biggest enemy to any type fuel is water. As stated: most fuel is blended for winter use. Adding an additive for absorbing moisture should be all you need. Just look at what is available at your local parts place, see what it is designed to do, and follow instructions. Good additive will mix with moisture and prevent freeze up in lines and filters.

I live in cold country, and I used to get my 1,000 gal. tank filled just once a year so I would blend 1/3 K-1 for winter time, along with 2 oz/10 gal. regular Power Service anti-gel additive. I expect that you are buying fuel 5 gallons at a time so as Guido said you don't need to add any K-1. I would add the PS though.

The tractor was just serviced at Kobota dealer , have the paperwork. Bought from a widow, looked liked he had taken good care of it. Nice handy little 4by 4 with loader and 4 foot woods finish mower, for the wife. It should not see heavy use as my Ford NAA's do the hard stuff. The mower should keep it cleaned out. thanks joe

No additives needed. Do not idle for prolonged times. Go work the shot out of it from time to time.Idleing and 'loafing' is the hardest thing for it.
