John Deere engine swap.

Should slide right in. But Mt. Didn't have a water pump. So radiator hoses are bigger. And no thermostat. So I would use the 430 pump and fittings. If will work.

I had a 420 that someone had installed a 40 engine. I couldn't keep it from over heating because the radiator hoses were smaller. I ended up
putting in a 420 engine. 40 and m, mt, don't have a water pump.

Might be cause good MT engines aren't hard to find but finding a 430 engine that wasn't completely worn out 40 years ago is pert near impossible in some area's. If you find a 430 around here that isn't worn out from top to bottom someone just brought it in from somewhere else.

I would rebuild the 430 and have a known good engine. Rather than risk #1 an used engine. #2 that the M engine is gutless vs the 430 engine.
