301 Allis Chalmers injection pump removal

I need to remove my injection pump on my Gleaner L2 to send it off for repair. The only pumps that I have fooled with have been on Cummins engines. Spin the engine by hand until the timing pin slips in, lock the pump down. and pull it! This engine(301)seems a little more involved. It is a rotary pump. I have searched the internet to no avail, and was hoping you guys could walk me through? I'd appreciate the help!

As I recall (it's been 10 years since I pulled mine), You don't even have to time it other than making a scratch mark on the boss/flange. The drive shaft only goes on one way. Just yank 'er off. :>)

As already mentioned, remove the two screw timing cover, turn engine until the retainer mark aligns with the cam ring. Then remove the pump assembly. There are two dots that should be lined up when going back together, one on the shaft end drive tang and one inside the rotor drive groove. Pump can be installed 1/2 turn out of time if marks are not used correctly. I've seen some where the dots didn't align as the engine was assembled wrong, and instead of correcting the problem the shaft was installed wrong to correct the mistake.
