My Dad and 'stepmom' lived at Olpe for a while. Sold the place and moved to Cottonwood Falls.Still got family at Cottonwood and Burns.Beautiful country.Would move back in a heartbeat.

Blaine, when ever you post these I am very much reminded of my trips out that direction. Last time was 4 years ago to see my son when he was working for Eyster Harvesting between Goodland and Kanorado

You always do a very good job of capturing Kansas,
Butch

I love the Flint Hills area of Kansas....My parents both came from the Lindsborg,KS area..

1-The farm house that Dad was born at in May 1908...Its 4 miles SW of Falun,KS..

2-The old Mt Hope one room school that my Mom attended many-many years ago located 4 miles east of Lindsborg,KS..My cousins cousin now owns it..It was open until 1964..

"star of David on steeple"

Not unusual to see that on Christian churches. You also frequently see it on barns here in PA.

Those are awesome pictures. Anytime I travel the USA I try to get away from the interstates as much as I can to see the beautiful old towns like you picture.

I live in Michigan and have covered Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and parts of Pennsylvania. Its amazing how a lot of the architecture is very similar from that era, whether its central Ohio or Kansas.

Blaine nice picture s i meet u at the red power in Columbia a few yrs ago i live close to a guy u used to pull tractor s against

The church with the star of Davis may well predate the founding of the modern state of Israel and therefore people's association of the star of David with Judiasm. OTH, There is an old synagogue in a city near me probably built before modern Israel and it has the star on the front of it. The congregation outgrew that building and moved to another years ago selling the old one, which has had various occupant since then.

Yep - There is a lot to be seen all across this country if you stay off of the interstates! Thanks for sharing! :D

yes ,, we do like the tour Blaine , wisht I coulda went with ya ., ,, there are fewer folx out in rural Kansas than there were 40 yrs ago ,,.kinda sad to see these strong family communities drying up. and family folx moving way ,,. big equipment and larger farms are the cause ,,. and it is all driven financially , I know the cause but have no solution...?./ . if you ever get to the Louisville area ,, you got to look me up ,,. I will introduce ya to all the who's who in the area and give you the 10 dollar deluxe tour for free ,,.. LOL,,. we will make it an all day event...
