Good and Bad Day Rolled Into One

I have a 18" bin with 2 rings added that is risky getting into. There is no man hole, you have to take a roof section out to get inside. I added a inside ladder last year and wanted a platform to stand on while opening up the roof. I decided to buy a 2 man tree stand and fasten it to the bin. Our son came over and helped me put it up today. The top is bolted to the bin in 2 places and the brace is bolted to the bin. MUCH safer than standing on the top rung of a shakey ladder. I like it!! That being done, I ate lunch at 2:30 and worked on the untested White 2-62 backhoe and decided it was time to try it out. I drove about 1/4 mile across the field to a tree stump in the fence row by the road to dig it out. I started digging and finally broke thru a root as big as my arm when the boom started falling as fast as you raised it. I wasn't smart enough to stop and look around until I ran all the oil out of it from a busted hydraulic hose. I shut it off and walked home at dusk. One more thing to fix tomorrow. All in all, a pretty good day, Glad the bin is done, thinking about buying another one for the other bin. Chris

Safety on the outside. Good idea. Just stay away from burial on the inside. Work with two people, and have clear signals of actions taken or phones. Jim
