Ford 6000 and 602 picker in action

I posted this in the Ford board but thought I would here too since I had the pictures on here a couple weeks ago. Picked 2 wagon loads and have about 1/2 of one left to do. The picker and tractor worked great. It is a big step up from the 961 and picker we have used the last couple of years. It would be great to go back to 1963 and see this setup brand new. Hope you enjoy the video

two questions. How loud is the 6000 with a straight pipe and are those kernels of corn that have broken off the cob that can be seen falling into the wagon like snow ? Also , any over heating problems with that guard in front of the radiator? Bill

Thanks for the video, loved it! Late 50's into the early 60' Dad had a two row that mounted on his M Farmall. I never got to run it as he did all custom picking with it but got to watch it a lot after school and on saturdays. That way I got to help unload into the elevator. Wonderful memory.

Great video. Around here in central Iowa this year you would need to have the snouts almost on the ground to pick up the broken stalks.

It's not too loud but don't know if I would want to run it all day long. Yes that is corn that has been shelled off the cob falling in the wagon. The corn we shelled was running 14% moisture so it's pretty dry and shelles easy. Ford has interchangeable picking rolls and this picker has the quartz coated ones which are aggressive. It needs really needs the rubber ones on for these conditions. The Ford pickers were know for putting the corn that was shelled in the wagon and not on the ground. Even though there is some being shelled there wasn't much left on the ground. The front grill on the 6000 is solid cast iron and it gets its air from the sides so overheating isn't a problem. They did make a set of extension screens for the hood and I'm looking for some but they are hard to find. I might make my own
