Poulan Hydrostat............

We have a Poulan garden tractor with a 24hp Briggs engine, 54" deck, and hydrostatic drive. It's about 5 years old with 322 hours on the clock. It's no longer our main mower since we got a zero turn, but I still use it around my shop.

Now when you push either the "Forward" or "Reverse" pedal, it doesn't move, just makes a loud buzzing noise. Is this hydrostat a sealed unit? I can't even find a way to check fluid without dropping the entire transaxle out from under it.

Has anyone had experience with these?

Thanks in advance.

Just worked on a Cub Cadet with a hydrostat , and the filler plug is well located on the cover plate for the differential. It uses HyTran , and the oil level is just above the axles , they would be covered in other words . You may have to fill it underneath ....

If you have ever put it in bypass mode to push it around and then tried to drive it while still in bypass you may have trapped air in the transaxle. Before you do anything else try this
