is it possible to convert lawn sweeper drive for the brushes all on one drive vs running off a pinion(#17)& the inner plastic teeth on the plastic wheels that wear out?

You need a way to speed it up and change direction. At least reverse direction. Not sure on the speed. check how many brush revolutions per wheel revolution.

IAroy is thinking correctly. You need to keep close to a 10 to one ratio, and reverse rotation. to create the sweeping action. A metal gear used in place of the plastic Would be a best solution, (Boston Gear or other sources like Motion Industries. Machine out the original, and bolt in the new to make a better fix. Of course the cost will be as much as a new sweeper. Jim

Replace with a new sweeper. 42" China ones was $199.99 CDN at times.

Direct drive won't work.
