Cylinder repair MF loader

Have reaired may leaking cylinders over the years, but this one on my MF HX50 i am not used to. Don't know how to open it! It is not leaking on the seal, but the top part just moves about 1 mm when you lift the loader and comes down again when you lower it. There are 2 shims in there, but that might not be enough? The top part doesnt seem to have tread in it, you can turn all you want but nothing happens.
There is a hole on the side with some sort of clip in it, but i cant get a grip on that, i that thing holding the cylinder together?

My terramite has a cylinder similar to that. A wire goes in the hole and is wrapped around the end piece to hold it in place. The end piece and cylinder has a grove for the wire to fit in. I leave a little wire sticking out. You may have turned the end and pulled the wire all the way inside. If that's the case, I take my to the hydraulic shop. Good luck getting it out.
 
Both cylinders look the same, nothing sticking out to grab on to! I did buy a different loader tractor, but like to get this one repaired before i sell it.

Yes, he shure takes his time but know i know how to take it apart.
If we get some rain next week i will try it.

o kidding! If he charges by the hour, that was an expensive repair.
 
Glad to help, I found this when I was looking to rebuild a cylinder. I ended up taking it to a machine shop, it works great now. joe
 
Try turning the end ccw, to the left and see if you have a wire that moves. It might be time to visit your hydraulic shop. My hyd shop is only about 5 miles away and a very nice, helpful guy and reasonable guy.
