Anybody know what model and year this came off? It belonged to my Grandpa. He rode motorcycles as a young man in the late 20's and 30's.

I don't know, but I can tell you your grandfather would have been amazed to see what Springfield, Mass has devolved into since that part was made!

That cover fits alot of models . One thing about Indian is the parts fit different models and were easier to service than other bikes.

I believe it's late 20's Indian 101 scout, outer primary case cover. Too bad you didn't have the rest of the bike. The scout was 45 cu in. Stan

Looks a bit like this

Yes the bike is long gone and no pictures of him on it or with it.The cover was hanging on the garage wall when things were getting thrown out. It now hangs on my garage wall. In 1947 Grandpa did buy a new Cushman Scooter with a side car. His only son(my uncle) got it after Grandpa passed. Was still in running condition and then fully restored in 2010. I found the paperwork for that Cushman in a tin box.He kept all his receipts. Grandpa paid $252.00 new in 1947 from a dealer in Fort Dodge Iowa.

Did some research on him. That was a Indian scout he rode to set a land speed record for a machine under 1000 cc's in the 60's. Stan
