So I have this battery with a date of Jan. 2005 on it. Got it in the 1987 Dodge D-50 pick up and it was dead when I got it. Charged it up and have tried it in 3 or more machines as a test battery and it has been working very well. Matter of fact did so today and it did better then a battery that is only a about a month old.

My guess is the battery may hold a charge and appear to work fine, and it could for a long time but I doubt it has much capacity. It is a long time for a battery to work though, especially if its been dead for a period of its life.

The battery in the War Dept.'s 03 Dodge Durango is the org . that came with it and still going strong . when it does die i am not trading it as i am going to have it bronzed . This one has been the longest lasting battery that i have ever had . now as who made it for Dodge-Chrysler i have no idea. It is a group 27 .

I have a 2003 Dodge Stratus which I bought in 2004. So it is on the road since Late 2002. It still has the original battery in it . I just put new tires on it about a year ago and it now has less than 50,000 miles on it (49455). I cant believe it .

Tractor has a 2002 date code battery in it, still going strong. Starts everyday in -35 no block heater. Its had an easy life because the alternator has never had any trouble in that tractor. My other tractor ate 2 batteries in 2 years before we replaced the alternator.

Have to add my two cents worth for CIH Magna Charge batteries. I just bought a new set a week ago. The pair in my Magnum 7130 finally failed during harvest. They were installed new ,by me, in the spring of 2000. Got a pair of "workahaulics" in the 1660 combine only a year younger and they still start the combine. You just never know how long a battery will last or who makes the best.

I've got a Motorcraft battery that came in a '95 Ranger. A guy pulled into the garage where I used to work, towing a small camper trailer and said he needed a battery, said he had to get a jump start this morning after camping all weekend.

I asked him if the trailer had it's own battery or ran off the truck battery.... truck he said.... I told him there was probably nothing wrong with it other than needing charged. I reached in and turned the key, it fired right up.

I'm not taking any chances he said, get me a new battery....hey, the customer is always right, right? So I did and took his old one home.

I've used that battery in several different rigs, a Dodge Maxivan camper conversion, a Dodge 1/2 ton, a small Ford motorhome and it now resides in an old Jeep CJ that I plow snow with. It sat all summer, I fired it up Saturday to get it ready for this plow season, cranked the Jeep over like it was new.

Can anyone top that?

After posting this, I expect the next time I go to start the Jeep it will be dead.
