I have bought and sold lots of tractor parts on CL.
I have always entered my phone number with a couple of numbers spelled---zero76five----
Now they refuse and say "phone number is not valid in this country"
Has something changed?
How can I disguise number?

Just add your phone number into the text in your add and not were CL wants you to put it in. Thats what I have done in the past.

I have not had that problem I include it in the text... I ask that they include a word that is out of context like "dipstick" are I will not reply to a email...

As far as My phone number I get 10 are so tella marketers a day call'N... Google is the worst wanting me to pay up to get my businesses listing to the top of the page... They can be real nasty when tell'em to go fudge there self..

Those unwanted calls are as bad as I have ever seen it I let my answer machine talk to there answer machine...

I think you are not supposed to put your phone number in the text of the ad now. There is a special box in the form labeled "phone number" enter your number there and then it will be hidden from the bots that troll the net looking for phone numbers. The number can only be seen when a person clicks on the 'contact' button.

Thanks, I'll do that. The reason I didn't is because they have a note, at the top, to not enter phone number in description.
Just never had a problem like this before.

I get 2 or 3 calls per day now since putting my number in that box. It may be coincidence but I never had any until then.

Yes you are correct and that's where I tried to enter.

But did you click on the box for phone &/or text?? I just had to edit an ad I put on CL last night that I failed to check the appropriate boxes.

Well I use CL too. And when I do use their reply section and check those boxes that is the only time I have spammers and scammers !!!!
DO NOT check those boxes. DO NOT use the email replys.

DO put your phone number in the ad and I still spell out the last number just in case. I someone really wants something they will be reading the ad and see phone number at the bottom and call.

As a buyer I hate when someone does not include their phone number. Seldom do they ever reply to emails sent to them.

You are supposed to just put numbers in that box, not words, that is why it was rejected.

That's the question----It worked with spelled out numbers many times before.
Apparently they have changed it.

I have a google voice account just for this. If I don't recognize the number it goes to voicemail. The voicemail I do get is all converted to text
in an email and I don't have to worry about it. I'd recommend that.
