I have a chance to buy a couple of 510 massey combines with what I believe are 354 diesel engines.assuming these engines are in decent running condition, is it cost prohibitive to install them in a tractor that is equipped for a 354 ? In other words are combine & tractor 354 enough alike to be interchanged without a lot of high priced parts?
thanks in advance

Sometimes combine engine crankshafts are not bored for a pilot shaft on a transmission. Don't know if this is the case here but there are a lot of 354 Perkins for different applications.....Ron

That one in a 510 would fit most tractors equipped with those engines. As long as you have the original tractor engine to get the pan, front cover, manifolds etc, your only expense would be for gaskets.
