Military Blimp Free

No one at the controls. I retired from APG in 1989 after 38 years. Two of those years were spent in the Army during the Korean War. Hal

The last news report put it about 15 air miles from me. I live in North East PA. Twenty thousand people in Bloomsburg PA are without power because of it. I called my daughter to warn her because she lives very close to a 88 wind turbine farm high on a mountain.

News right now doesn't say it's on the ground however they say it's dragging a mile long 1" diameter tether line that is shorting out power lines. So why can't they drive a dozer over the line and stop it?

Because that would make to much sense. This is the government dealing this after all.

That big balloon has cost us about $1 billion dollars so far. The idjits have sold the army on the early warning facit of the technology. It will warn them of incoming at 350 miles out. Just about enough time for the DC crowd to pile into their bunkers and hide. And, it won't work in bad weather or high winds. They have to take it down so they won't lose it.......

Along with the flammable helium reports, the media doesn't seem to understand the difference between a blimp and a balloon. This was unpowered, just a tethered balloon the became untethered.

If that was British Petroleum that owned that balloon dragging that cable across the countryside knocking out power all over the place, someone would be out in the white house rose garden blasting them and demanding a beer summit for them acting stupidly and demanding that they accept responsibility.

Mark

the ones explaining the helium are the same bunch that have to dissect and explain every political matter so we can understand it, what's the tether cable made of

According to an army occifer on the news, it's a kevlar-steel cable that would stand 100+ mph winds and never break. The winds today were about 16 mph......

Now that they "caught" it, will they hook it to a chopper and tow it home? Inquiring minds want to know.

From the debate tonight:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee made reference to the JLENS blimp that cut loose from its mooring at Aberdeen Proving Ground on Wednesday, comparing the military surveillance balloon to the government at large.

“The blimp is a perfect example of government,” Huckabee said. “Basically a bag of gas. Cut loose and destroyed everything in its path…that is our government today. We saw it in the blimp.”

Yup.
