I reverted back some years

Today I spent the day running the auger and binning the STS beans for the seed dealer. It was nice out but I realized about half way through the day my lips were chapped. I couldn't very well leave the auger running and go to the house. So, I reverted back to what grandpa told us when we were young. "Pull that dipstick and get you a little oil from the crankcase." So, that's what I did. It works, but cures you of licking your lips pretty quick.

I was glad to come in a bit ago and use balm intended for lips not pistons.

I thought you were going to say you put cow shoot on your lips. It doesn't make them any better, but you don't lick your lips anymore. lol gobble

That's funny, I read years ago, farmers who ate out in the field ect that have no way to get to chap stick, rub your finger along the side of your nose them rub that on your lips, the oils in your skin will help.

I use black elec tape for all injuries int he field, and my favirote wood chisel for PB&J.

Until recently I thought crankshaft and rod bearing material had been changed to a non lead material. I was checking some new bearings for my Farmall Super C and they still had lead alloy. This gets into the oil although usually at low levels but still makes it unsafe for long term skin contact. Maybe the material has been changed for newer car and tractor engines, but not older ones.
