I thought I had a picture on this phone of hauling round bales in the old 58 GMC - in a snowstorm no less. I must have trashed it. The only thing I have is me moving clay with it this last spring (and climbing the bed to get it all unstuck). I just put another load of beans on it tonight, so I will take you a picture when I haul it to town tomorrow.

I am the third owner. It has 77k miles and has the original 270 straight six in it. Originally a custom cutter in Beloit bought it new along with another just like it. The second owner bought it at his sale and had it about 10 years. I have had it since. Good thing Kansas doesn't require inspections. At the auction they gave the second owner the title for the other truck and he never realized it. The VIN is a few digits off from the title. But it hasn't been inspected since 1958.

I've really considered puting a 350 or something modern in it so I don't have to deal with those old rope seals. She's got a pretty good oil leak. This engine doesn't even have an oil filter on it, either. The head is cracked in the number three exhaust port, so you can smell coolant until it heats up enough to seal it off. I did decide that I am going to put an alternator on it after harvest. It still has a 12 volt generator and it is in need of attention. I will just put it on a box and keep it I guess. It's a great old truck when you need a dump bed. With 200 bushel capacity it isn't much of a grain truck, but that's not why I have it I guess. She was big in her day and does lots of jobs on the farm.

And yes, I do have all of the stock racks and end gate pulleys.

Being raised on a dairy farm I still have a soft spot for good old and loyal equipment. May of those old beasts ,if you take care of them they do respond. Just send us a newer pic when you can. How about at the elevator and such. With your combine, on the scale, Getting gas, what ever.
