I found this amusing ...pic

I thought it was kinda funny that this exhaust manifold cracked right through the word CHINA, lol . It had been in use only 3 years on an 2001 F150 , 5.4 engine.

Although, it does make you wonder why did the original manifold needed to be replaced after only 12 years?

I own a 2003 f-150 with a 5.4, it has 155000 miles on it. I haven't had any manifold trouble or anything else. When the spark plugs were changed at 100,000 I took it to a good mechanic cuz I heard stories about blowing plugs out. I haven't had that happen either. I change the oil every 3000 miles and it doesn't use any oil. All said mine has been a very good engine. Much better than some of the small block Chevys I've owned.

I did the spark plugs myself on my 99 5.4, but no way in hell would I think this engine is better that a 70s -80s small block Chevys such as the 350 or 400. Those engines were some of the best engines ever made at least the 350, but I've had no trouble with my 400 either.

My 99 with 110000 went threw 2 coils since August, I ended up buying a code reader so I can see which cylinder has a misfire, not cheap, but helpful. I noticed my coils were cracked? You must have got lucky! Lol

I just traded my 03 f250 5.4 off Yes I did the China manifold thing. 187000 2 manifolds 1 coil 2 sets spark plugs. Brakes all the way around. No water pump, alt. Fuel Pump. Best truck I ever had. Hope the new one is as good.

My '95 F150 5.0 338,000 miles I have only done oil changes, cap, rotor plugs and wires. Has been running great although the mileage isnt that great anymore. Oh ya I did have to replace the A/C compressor about 5 years ago.
