International B250 Diesel Problems

So, I have an IH B250 diesel that i have been fixing up. At this point everything works good, i just need to replace the rear main oil seal and wheel/ axle seals. I've talked to a few people about what needs to be done but am still a little unsure about the wheel or axle seals. Do i need to remove the axles? i hear that it is a big job. Any info regarding the rear main seal change or the axle seals would be greatly appreciated!!! I have also inquired about another IH B250 not to far from me. it was running about 4 years ago, and needs a left rear axle, and some steering box work. this tractor also comes with a complete spare rear end and front axle. for 200 bucks i think its a good deal even if i were to keep it for parts. Anyone agree?

Hi, I believe you have to remove the rear axle to replace the outer rear axle grease seal.

Before you tear it apart make sure it has 90WT transmission grease in the trans/diff and NOT hytran or other hydraulic fluid.

To remove the axle you have to lift off the hydraulic hosing under the seat to access the bolt in the end of the axle holding the bull gear on.

Okay thanks. Yes the transmission does have 80w90 high pressure gear lube in it. I still need to find out where exactly the oil is coming from... not sure if it is the axle seal or housing on end of trumpet. Appreciate the reply, Jamie
