Wish that didn't happen

I was chipping up a dead pine tree today. Just as we were finishing I tossed a pitch fork full of pine needles in the chipper, and it grabbed the fork. It went through the chipper. The fork came out in pieces, along with something from inside the machine. It ruined the almost new blades. What was your recent, I wish that didn't happen? Stan

Years ago chipping along an old road a young fellow, green horn, was feeding brush fast and slid an old car spring in the chipper!!!! nough said!!!!

Slapping a #3 Morse taper tap holder guide into a lathe and a very sharp keyway edge sliced my thumb (just a nick through three layers) Jim

I was "proofing" my newly renovated Ford 713 backhoe against a "hard target" (big stump) and pushed it a bit too hard. Ripped one of the outriggers off. It actually was a repair from a previous life so I wasn't the first to do that. I always hate to hear that loud pop when a weld breaks.

About 20 minutes ago when the chain broke on the elevator while I was unloading corn. So much for getting done before supper.

Driving a TD15 one sunny winter day by a nice little farm pond noticed it had run over some in the past few day on this side hill which I realized I had been on for several yds, while gawking around, and started sliding sidge ways,, for bout 50 60 yds.As most of you guys know you have no control at all.Moral of story Pay attention where you are going in winter time when on a crawler, know matter how big or small. About ten years ago, I was trying to clear a jam in a forage wagon box with a silage fork. A large plug broke free, wrenched the fork out of my fingers and promptly shot it out of the unloading box, into a blower where it made a few screeching sounds, one or two bangs and disappeared up the pipe. We hunted for pieces for over an hour.....

The doctor telling me that I have to get another colonoscopy and upper GI!! At least this time it is a 2 for 1 deal, all at once.

A number of years ago we were using or old Fox 546 to chip brush that was around the yard. Had the 1755 on it wide open, tossing in branches and forkfulls of twigs and leaves. One fork full had 1/2 steel rod in it. Brooke a knife and think it messed up the shear bar. Dubbed the tractor out cold, and I'll never forget the ring I heard when she stopped. Figured out the next time we went to use it, that it also twisted the pto shaftoso it wouldn't telescope anymore. That one wasn't cheap.

Years later I was chipping brush in the guild with the Fox 3000 and the shear bar I had in on top to set the knives after replacing one that broke while chopping straw, that I forgot to remove, weighed until it feel into the cutter head. Sheared the bolts this time but took out a few more knives. We had already replaced it for field duty so it wasn't much of a loss. I took out half the knives and used it more until the 4 rib belt in back shredded a few years later.

I shot a possum about three days ago. It winged him just enough for him to run under the enclosed front porch through a hole in the concrete I didn't know existed. It's going to be a long week if that thing doesn't stop fuming up the house.

Oh, and last week I accidentally chased a five foot rat snake in the other side of the porch and into the wall of the house. It's like Wild America over here.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit!! There was an article sometime back in the American Legion magazine telling that some of the VA's had gotten caught using the tube between
patients without sterilizing it. Some got aids and other things from it. Doesn't surprise me at all.

Loose wire from harness on MH44 got in drive shaft, tore every wire off tractor and wrapped it around shaft.

Put new tires on my 2001 Dodge PU Friday. Got about 30 miles down the road and hit a 3' piece of angle iron in a severe rainstorm. Driver side front tire exploded.

Hmmm... good lesson here to shut off the power when trying to clear a jam. Luckily it wasn't an arm.
