Trough leak

I have a 200 gallon metal trough that is leaking along the vertical seam. What are some good methods for resealing this seam?

A lot depends on what it is used for. If for watering animals I would use something like JB weld or fiber glass etc.
Solder unless you use silver solder has lead in it which is not a good thing for animals

If it is wet, you may try some wet patch roof sealer. If dry I would use JB weld, but the metal needs to be real clean. I mean real clean. Stan

If your looking for a good temporary fix, use a new wax toilet sealing ring.
The wax is soft enough to work into the crack and it will melt out when you
are ready to solder.
Lust make sure it's a new one.

Was the seam originally soldered? 3M Marine Sealant used to be available in Walmart's fishing department for around $15 (check if you an order it from them online?). It worked well on aluminum boats. Aquarium sealer (silicon) $5 is safe for fish and animals and easy to apply. It sticks to glass well if applied to a clean dry surface.
