mowing with my gt 245 yesterday and the mower deck would randomly shut down.turning the switch off, then back on re- engaged the mower. would mow for a while, then just shut ff again. wiring all seems good and i wasnt hitting the reverse by accident. is the clutch going out? or some other issue. it has the 20 hp kawasaki engine.

Were you bouncing on the seat? Is that the same response/senario? Maybe the wiring to the seat switch is broken internally? Seat switch failing?

Check the ground wire from the clutch to the body of the machine, I had one vibrate loose and thats what the clutch would do on my machine.

I would lean toward the switch since turning it off and back on would restart it. Might flush it out with some contact cleaner, blow it out good. Look at the terminals on back, see if they're lose or discoloring from heat.

no wasnt bouncing on the seat. it did it a couple times, i thought maybe i was hitting the reverse pedal, but i ran along mowing in a straight line, smooth ground and it would just shut off. if you get up off the seat with the deck on, the engine also shuts down.

I have tried PBBlaster in switches, and had it clean them right up and start working perfectly. Particularly on Cub Cadet mower deck switches. Blew all the dust and corrosion out, and lubed them up. I now use it in all electrical switches, keyes, contacts. etc.
