OT, Unusual combine fire

Its very hard to be absolutely certain if a fire is totally out in a combine. There are too many places for it to hide. You would think a smolder can be sniffed out but burn and smoke smells linger in the machine and it's hard to determine if a smell is new or old.

JD is right that the owner is better off now that the machine is totally gone.

Back when I worked on a lot of combines in the field I would find where there was a fire that smoldered and went out in hard to see areas, that no one knew happened,,just lucky that it didn't find enough draft to take off..When we were young my Dad would say, "If the combine catches fire ,block the gate so the fire trucks can't get in",, nothing worse than a half burnt combine...
