AC 7010 shifter update

Here is an update to a post I had earlier in the week. So my brother got the JD 3020 stuck on Saturday and I hop in the Allis to pull him out and the range gear shift is completely gone. We got it torn down and found a u-bolt that holds the shifter cable in place under the cab had come unbolted. We repaired that, but now we can only shift into high range, trying to shift into low or park seems very difficult and didn't want to force it. We can not even shift the linkage on top of the transmission by hand without any cables attached, so now we are thinking there may be a bigger problem with the transmission, is there anything we should be looking for?
Thanks,
John

A different tractor!!!! LOL I just could not resist.

I hated working and using those AC 7000 series tractors. The cabs where tight and the shifter linkages where a nightmare to work on. On your AC 7010. The shifter rails/forks are more than likely your issue. Drop down on the AC forum as there are guys that are well versed on repairing these AC tractors. It has been 25 years since I had one apart.

Thanks for the response, I will try posting on Allis Forum, you are right about the cab being tight to work in, I thought I would be a lot more sore than I am today after twisting around in the cab to get to everything.
