Old Rusty Pipes

No, not tractor related but car. I recently replaced , or should say added some exhaust pipe to the "project" 52 Mercury. The muffler was long gone so I just added a section of new pipe to hook up to the tail pipe and give a good straight run right to the rear bumper. Sounds as good as ever, just a little further away from the driver's seat. Some video of the work and test drive is here of course.

Old Merc looks like a chick magnet for sure. Floor looks a bit tough but I was surprised at how well the frame looked, and the rest of the body too for that matter. Hard to belive you just dragged it out of the bush a year or so go. Is harvest all through there now ?

Harvest is at a standstill for me thanks to the weekend's rain. STill got a couple hundred acres of flax and 80 acres of wheat to do when it dries up. Hopefully this fall before the snow flies. At least on the rainy days I can keep busy working in the shop on the car(s) or something.

You were driving down the road and I couldn't believe how quiet it was and then I realized that I had the sound turned off on my computer. I turned it up, sounds good to me. Was that a v-belt that you were using as a tailpipe hanger? Has to help silence vibration. Not a bad idea if it is. All and all, I'm thinking is ready to drive to church on Sundays.

Enjoy it and good luck.

Thanks Mark. It is noticeably quieter with the pipe running all the way to the rear bumper. I like to watch the video on my brother's big screen tv with a powerful sound system. That flathead just about vibrates the walls when we play it on there.
I guess brakes are the next biggest priority. Parking brake gets me by for now but .
No, that was a bungee cord I was using to hold up the tail pipe while I installed and adjusted the clamps.
