OT drying clothes

I read an article on using ultrasonic waves to dry clothes instead of heat. This really makes sense to me, we are moving away from using heat to create light, why not different technologies in drying also.

Maybe.....some day we can use that for the cleaning process? Then the subsequent job loss in waterworks, soap manufacturing, etc.

ya, guess the good old fashioned sunlight and clothes line outside dont count any more. lol.

The good old fashioned clothesline is not legal anywhere near where I live. They have been declared "unsightly."

My wife and I , even da kids hang our wash out every week. Bed sheets are the best. Even in winter in Wisconsin. We figure our dryer should last another 30 years!

Assuming the efficiency of creating Ultra sonic vibrations (and transferring them to the clothes, as well as making sure the clothes do not melt into a solid (plastic is welded using ultrasound)) the idea makes sense. But from my experience it is more energy intense than using Nat gas, and uses dirty coal etc. to create the electricity. Getting 15 6 year olds to scream at a pile of wet clothes might be less expensive. jim

Our gas dryer is about 30 years old never had a service call. Very few clothes are hung up outside. Hal

Drove by an Amish farm yesterday afternoon.Clothes on the line.Lots of Clothes! Line went from the back porch to the top of the silo and was full.

My understanding is that a lot , probably nearly all CA HOAs decreed that unsightly drying of clothes outside would not be allowed. Environmentalists complained
that clothes dryers used too much power, contributed to global warming, etc, and his governorship just signed a law into effect that allows solar clothes drying
again in CA.

You know, if I had to build a house in a place with a HOA, I would design it with a big enough garage to store my cars AND work on them, AND have room to do a
little welding AND have a woodshop. I would also have a big enough attic to dry clothes in.

high 30's past few nights, time to put the drying racks over the heat registers.
My clothesline is on my deck, so I don't have to put my shoes on.
not any different than them rich people strung deck lights to me. unsightly things lol.
When I get too old to work on tractors, I think I will move to a HOA neighborhood.
Just think how much FUN you could have. :)

Worked in a factory making rayon in the late 1960's. After the rayon was washed & rinsed, carts of it on racks went into the RF dryer. RF means radio frequency, later called microwave.
