I should have bought that rag today known as the Daily News because they probably listed the Yogisms. I read that Yogi served on Omaha Beach.

My favorite one is when he was in New York for some event on a very hot day with a lot of dignitaries. I think it was the mayors wife that came up to Yogi and said to him you sure are looking cool and comfortable.
He replied, you don't look so hot yourself.

I am glad he lived long enough to bury the hatchet with George Steinbrenner... Not that I like George but to see yogi back on the field....

"You can observe a lot just by watching."

I observed a lot of Yogi back in the 50s and 60s when he was part of that legendary Yankees lineup. I watched their games every chance I got. So, it was a great thrill to me to see the guy in person in the early 70s when he was manager of the Astros. I somehow got a ticket in about the fourth row behind the Astros' dugout, and there he was, like 20 feet away.

Also in that game Hank Aaron (Braves) was closing in on the home run record and needed only about three homers to break it. It was really something to watch him pole one into the stands at the Astrodome.

Yogi Berra served in WWII " Berra served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he served as a gunner's mate on the attack transport USS Bayfield during the D-Day invasion of France".

HE was a great player and a good manager/coach. He was like many of his generation. Honor, honesty and ethics meant something to them.
