Anouther VERY VERY VERY WILD RIDE TONIGHT. Second time in 3 months a car did not stop for a stop sign. This time they hit left front corner of the 2000 Dakota, last time it was only the trailer on July 2, Spun me completely around and wraped truck around a big power pole in the exrended cab part just back of drivers door. Lost my glasses as well. Nothing left salvagable of the truck. Took me in to check me out and I have a craked rib on the left side, other than just a few bruses I am OK. Just got home from hospital about hour ago. The car that hit me ended up 3-400 feet out in field with I think 2 people thrown out about 75" from where my truck landed. I think both were women and they said both were living. Guess several wittness. I had cruise set on 45 as I had a square tub Maytag wringer washer that I had just bought tied fast so it should not be able to move and it is laying about 75-100 feet away and I think it is destrowed and just paid $200 for it due to its exceptional good condition. Now tomorrow I have to start talking to insurance, I do have full coverage on the truck. Laywer, get meds from drug store and start looking for a truck. Been a bad year with loosing my wife on March 16 then too wrecks since. Have loads of work I need to do and will not be able to get it done.

Leroy I wish you better luck!!! I hope you fair better than I do in wrecks. The insurance companies all talk about how old my stuff an try to tell me it is not worth anything. On that 2000 Dakota they will try to go off of NEDA book price which will be about scrap price on that old of a pickup. So be ready to fight with them.

The saying is things happen in 3's so with your 3 large misfortunes lately you should be in the clear. Glad you weren't hurt worse.

Leroy: Where was the accident? I came up on a bad looking one yesterday but the police was trying to direct traffic around so I did not look much. I did not want to cause another accident.

Glad you came out of it in pretty good shape. It could have been much worse if the truck hit the pole just inches more forward.

Well on a good note bad luck comes in 3's so hopefully things will start getting better.
I wonder if they were texting and driving ? I see WAY TOO much of that anymore.
We had a nice 1999 reg. cab Dakota 4x4 with only 74,000 miles and sold it for $ 5,000 earlier this year. Good trucks are out there but they are hard to find and expensive too. Like the others said the insurance will likely want to undercut you.

Western Ohio between Wapakoneta and Lima on State Rout 501. A bit after 7 last night, tuesday.

Mine was extended cab 2 wheel drive that I had in last month put new tires on. 4.7 V8 and auto. Kobalt tool box mounted on bed. Have to have a 8 cylinder for the trailer pulling I do and that is probably 50% or more of its milage.

Actually I think the seat belt was the cause of most of my hurting. I had to pound on the drivers door to get it open to get out.

Yes, absolutely correct! Running into your seatbelt at 45 mph is going to hurt. But, it is a lot better than the alternative.

I do wish you the best on your insurance claim, and that it turns out to be less painful than the one we had when my wife was broadsided by someone. Ours took 2-3 months to get fully settled up, and thankfully she was able to drive it damaged until their insurance company settled and paid for the damages. The owner of the other vehicle changed his story after leaving the scene, and decided it was my wifes fault - which it obviously was not. Finally after both insurance adjusters came and took statements, viewed the damages, they decided that there was no way it happened the way he described, and decided he was 100 percent at fault, but still is a major ordeal to deal with, and his insurance did pay for a rental vehicle while ours was in the shop, but not until a lot of waiting and stalling on his part (he dodged the calls from adjusters). If I were you, I would speak with their insurance and you should be driving a rental while you search for a replacement in my opinion. I honestly think we would have been much better off if hers would have been a total loss, as I have yet to see a vehicle repaired to the point it is undetectable, and we traded hers off a few months later (I asked for a received a $1200 additional loss of value claim in addition to the repair cost of the vehicle which I placed toward the trade).

Bruises from the belts mean they did their job.

My wife was in a head on collision several years ago, caused by a 17 year old girl yakking on her cell phone. My wife walked away from it at the time.

Several days later, from the top of my wife's left shoulder to her right hip and across her stomach she had a five inch wide band that was the darkest purple I've ever seen on anyone. But, the law officers on the scene said if it hadn't been for the belts and air bag she couldn't have survived.

Glad to hear you're OK. My condolences on your wife. Even though my wife is six years younger than I she always says I'll outlive her, based on family histories. Guess we'll see some day.

Glad you're OK.
I guess a gal who works at the dollar store in town broadsided a Mennonite buggy yesterday. There were four girls ranging in age from 14 down to 7 in it. They flew the 7 year old out by helicopter. I saw it come in and go out while I was baling hay, wondered who was on it.

Wow, sorry to hear that.

Glad you're ok though.

Do yourself a favor and document everything now while it's fresh in your head, and as it happens.

Your lawyer will probably ask you to do it anyways, and it's easier writing stuff down while it's fresh in your head than trying to go on memory.

I don't mean just the crash details - All the hospital info - dates and times, how long you were there, etc. And keep track of any time and expense spent picking up pain killers, miles driven, etc. Just log any time spent or cost associated with the accident.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the litigious type. But you want to be sure you're treated fairly and that all your expenses are covered. That's a lot easier when you've got it all listed in detail.

You remember the old lap belts? The finally got rid of them because it
put to many in wheel chairs the impact force would break a person back

Sure it's not Amish the Mennonite around here drive cars but they have steel wheeled farm equipment nothing like a 4440 jd on steel .
I feel sorry for them but I noticed a lot of the kid's on there Sunday go out in the late afternoon and return at night and there buggies are low down and hard to see and I wonder about this accident if the sun setting late in the day could have been a factor.

Mennonite. There are two sects of them, one modern, one old order. The old order use electricity, phones and steel wheeled tractors, but are horse and buggy like the Amish to the north.

Sounds right there is as many varieties of them as candy bars . I suppose it depends on the bishop what the get to play with its funny how they get so many different rules .

Start looking at other trucks of the same model and year if you can find them. Then find a couple of them in the higher priced end and one in the lower end. With about 4-5 or so. This will give some idea about the fair market value. It will also help settle the not worth much line when they hand it to you. I have used this on vehicles when they got totaled by them. It does help. Also keep in mind things like A/C and other options help elevate the price in the debate. I would show the receipt for the new tires, or have them give them back to you. That can also be negotiated in the deal if the replacement has bad tires. It is all up for grabs with this game.
Good luck on the situation and you.
