propane tank weight question

What would a 250 gallon propane tank weigh with a 65% fill? Bought one at a sale and need to know if my new Holland L 150 would lift it. The book says it will lift 1300 pounds.

I picked up a tote with 250 gallons of molasses with L160 new holland and the hydraulics were fine but skid loader was a tad lite on back end.Can you locate machine so back end is down hill just lift it and back a trailer under tank.Be carefull Scott

Propane weighs about 4 1/4 pounds per gallon. So you're looking at about 700# of propane plus tank weight. I would guess about 500#, BUT DON'T QUOTE ME ON THAT.

A little off topic but I would be just as worried about hauling it as lifting it if the DOT is out in force like they have been in this area.

A 250 gallon propane tank won't weigh anywhere near 500# when empty. And if they do, then I am one strong son of a gun. They are pretty thin skinned. I think you will be less than 900# total. I set one last year that was about 45% with a 3 point boom pole.

Thanks, guys got it home today. I wasn't sure if my ls150 would lift it so I hauled my case 480E backhoe along. Got both of them on my 30ft gooseneck.
