Robins heading south already

Here in northeast pa. sitting on the patio & no birds at all. It was 80 plus degrees & no robins. Isnt it early for the birds to be heading south?

I havent seen any Robins here in west central Iowa for the last three weeks. Maybe they are telling us something.

Over the years we've had a finch feeder and lots of finches eating thistle seed. This year hardly any gold finches. Same thing with others we know. Don't know what's up with that.

We can tell fall is not far off as we are starting to see the dreaded love bugs around here.

I see and hear plenty of them lately, swallows have left though. Some robins stay here all winter, as I have noticed over the years, not sure how that works feed wise, but I have seen them eat staghorn sumac buds in the winter.

I've had robins at my place here in north Louisiana all spring and summer. Apparently they're fed up with the winters you guys up north have been giving them the past couple of years.

buzzards that roost in our area formed up last Monday and went south. dragonflys were passing thru on Wed night.

Around here the Robins either do not migrate or only partially. They disappear in the winter but a short walk down hill and into the woods along the streams that feed the Huron River will scare up Robins in the dead of winter. They want the flowing water and the berries that stay on the bushes in the low areas.

I tend to watch the humming birds and they are still hanging around. Haven't noticed the swallows gone yet, and the black birds haven't started to flock up yet.

Still some robins around NNY but they may be from farther north and passing through.I do see one or two during winter.Very rare.Hummers - gone.Blue birds flocking like crazy in my yard and pastures.
Won't be long before all that's left is Chickadees,finches maybe a Redpoll or two and some Grosbeaks.The odd Cardinal too.Grackles flocked two weeks ago. The flocks aren't as large as past years though.
