End of August looking on Craigslist for a lawn tractor for my Daughter, who is an exceptional young lady, the reason I say that is, she was born with the retina never formed correctly in both eyes. Looking at her eyes they have the shape of Siamese cat,and they are beautiful. There is nothing the Dr's can do for her,so she has performed exceptional tasks such as driving, some maintenance on her vehicle, cuts her own wood, and a whole lot of other tasks, most women wouldn't attempt.
She mows her yard with a push mower, which is extremely hard on her system to do when the heat is high, hence the rider. Short story on the rider, my son and I kept looking on Craigslist for a reasonably priced lawn tractor. We found one close by,about 30 miles away, for $150.00. We went to look at it and was worried how much damage the tractor had incurred from the man we purchased it from, who was the original owner since new.
The tractor has a hydrostat and was a little concerned it was on it's last leg,so far it works as it should. The engine was packed full of grease and dirt, spent one whole day cleaning it up. The grill was shattered and missing part of the louver vents, they wanted over $100.00 for each panel,so we rebuilt the front one, louvers and all, reinforced the bottom of it with steel , as the old one was missing. There is way too much to continue explaining what we did to get it back in shape, painting and all. Pictures will give you a visual of my son and I endeavor. Notice the mower side discharge, which was busted in 3 pieces, which we reassembled using heavy gauge tin with rivets and herculined in and out as was the mower deck. It will take years to rot and my son welded in new metal on the mower deck that was rotted out,so that's why the herculiner was applied to the mower deck, both sides. Bought one new mandrel,2 new blades, new mandrel shaft to repair the old one for a spare. Well here's the pictures.Lots of work and a great deal of patience. My son is a talented man,as the work will show, now she doesn't have to push the mower in the hot sun, she'll be looking for a small lawn cart to pull behind it,something like a Agri-fab dump type, that they have at Farm & Fleet. By the way, what she now owns is a 1998 Yard-Man with 16 hp(Kohler) 42 in mower. We keep looking on Craigslist and haven't found one since (yard-man).Have a few small incidentals to do still, but it will be a safe and trustworthy, nice looking mower for her.
