OT- music transfer

Howdy folks. I just found a box of tape cassettes. They include some GOOD music (Bobby Mcpheren/YoYo Ma, Dan Hicks and his Hot licks and others. I need a way (inexpensive if possible) to transfer these musical enjoyments to CD. Any help is welcome. $$ is an issue (I ain't gots much) Thots ??? Many thnx.

There looks to be a certain amount of equipment, but you may already have it. I've not done it myself, but it looks easy enough if you have the time and the equipment.
 
It looks easy enough if you know what he is talking about! I am NOT very computer literate, therefore I have very little idea about which he speaks. I believe I did hear him say that if you can purchase a song on the internet, that this method will not work.
 
Correction, he said check to see if it were available on CD or MP3. In other words, if you can buy it,there is no need to convert it. Now that make sense.
 
Have you played any of the tapes? I have a box of cassettes too and tried to convert them but after sitting for so long they sounded terrible. When I tried to convert them to CD's, the sound was so bad I threw the CD away.
