Hey y'all,
I was out to the other farm today, (where my
dad lives, Clinton County) and helped him take
care of a few things. I made a new fuel line for
hiss Oliver 770 diesel, it had rubbed a hole
through it, and then put that on it and we bled it
out and used it to pull start my 1948 MD. The
770 dad's uncle bought it brand new, its a good
tractor. My MD had been setting for a few years,
and recently I have had a little more time as I
have stopped, or at least slowed down working
on everyone else's stuff. So, I have been getting
a few tractors out each time I go over there,
running them, getting the ones that haven't
been run in a while running. Dad put new tires
on the front of his AV a couple days ago, and
put his PTO seeder on the back of his Super AV
as well so my cousin could seed alfalfa with it.
Dad is trying to thin out some of his herd, get rid
of the tractors that have no sentimental value,
no real value anyway, and ones he just never
uses. So, I been spending some quality time
with my ol' dad, a good man, the best dad a guy
could have, just messing around with our old
tractors. Even though he only lives 4 miles from
me, I have been working a TON of hours this
summer (things are finally slowly winding
down), working on other people's stuff over
here at my shop (the other farm, Gratiot
County), but every time I go over there or go to
an auction with him, it makes me feel very good,
as I know he will not always be here with me.
Anyway, I didn't feel like tossing a battery in the
MD just to get it running, I had to replace a
cracked fuel fitting on it so it would run, so we
used dad's 770 to pull start the MD, 770 needed
a workout anyway. In the first picture, the MD (I
have a WFE I'm going to put on it, and new
tires), and the second pic is dad pulling me with
his 770. As dad was looking ahead, I may have
been pushing down on the MD's brakes "a
little", ok, as hard as I could, just to make the
770 smoke a little. Made my day when dad
turned around and smiled, he knew I was just
messing around.
