Geo Tracker clutch assembly removal

So finally getting back to work on this 1997 Geo Tracker. Clutch pedal is broken off the cross shaft. So I need to remove the pedal assembly so I can weld the pedal back on the shaft. After looking at the pedal I found that the weld that was on it is only a half moon weld so not near as strong as it could have been so may why it broke in the first place. To me it looks like the 4 nuts that hold the brake vacuum booster are also the same bolt that hold the clutch pedal assembly. Is that correct?? The Chilton's manual does not cover that any place that I can find. So any of you ever had that apart on one??

I replaced the booster on my sister's Tracker years ago and I think your right on the same bolts holding the clutch pivot on too. I remember it being a bear to hold everything back in place to get the nuts back on.
 
Its been years but I repaired ours without taking the bracket out, I think it slid out sideways around loosening some stuff under there or I just welded it in place, but I seem to recall moving stuff so it would slide out. Same issue, weld broke and pedal went to floor. It was a pain driving the city part of the drive to work. Broke mid week and had no time to tear it open.
 
I've had one out too for about the same problems, the splines on the cable end were stripped but that weld was cracked around it too. I don't remember anything specific to to remind me of noting on here. It is tight under there but I've become fairly used to working behind/under instrument panels. It does come out, and I do think much had to come out of the way but things were tight, you might consider removing drivers seat for room to craw around and work.

Another thing you need to check is the clutch cable, the cable is pretty common failure for these, also check the mounting flange on the firewall for cracks too.
