I currently have a 1950 Ferguson 30. I use it to bush hog and move a few 500 lb round bales for my horses. I am looking for a similar sized tractor or larger with live PTO. Im used to not having live PTO but it sure is aggravating. Im also want something with a loader since my new hay guy makes 1000 lb round bales and my Ferguson just cant handle those. I really really love the Massey and Allis tractors but I know nothing about what model years are diesel and if thats something I need or what size is what. Im looking for used but good condition and running order. So I basically know zilch about where to even start. Any help would be great and Thank You. Jan

A.C. D17 series 4 diesel or gas would be a good start--180 or 185 Allis would be another good choice if you can find 1 that doesn't jump out of 3rd gear. 1080 Massey would be a good 1 too.

If you are thinking classic/vintage a MF 50 or 65, gas or diesel, would do the job. You just have to find one with the FEL front end and weights.

4000 or 5000 Fords are a good choice. Gas
or diesel. But I have a 6060 Ac. I like it
but probably not for you. Friend just
bought a 40 sum HP new Kubota no interest
and you get two implements for like 400$.
He got a loader with parallel linkage on
bucket.It is quick tach. And a 6 ft cutter
Its a grand L.

Tractors with swept back front axles do not make good

loader tractors because the load puts a terrible twist

on the center pivot pin .

I agree with the 4000 or 5000 series fords or even an 800 series great tractors we have a 530 that I use a lot I really like that it is good with a loader and has in dependant pto

Lots of good options mentioned but if you want a loader be sure you have power steering

John Deere 2020 would be my absolute first choice its not huge but it lifts good and is live pto. we have had our downsides to allice chalmers

I have driven a John Deere 2020 and would not own one, very poor design, The 4000 Ford 3 cylinder is the direct compition and beats the Deere in all ways.
