bought a used tractor form legacy jd in mo paid about 88.000.00 for it when legacy drop it off that day I sold jack a uns b jd for 700.00 the b belong to lady down the road she last her husband about 7 year ago and I am help her sell some thing and like I said in the add parts are not all there like the head toll that to jack but if and when I find more part s I will send them to you I can not sell some thing I do not have so you buying like it is jack said ok the b left my place on legacy truck jack owns legacy jd in mo 5 weeks later two call to jack I get letter in the mail with note here 350.00 and when you find the head and mail it to me I will send you rest of the money what a deal i hope jack sleep well at night knowing he just put it to the lady down the road

Unless I missed something in this VERY POORLY written post, two comments: Why would you ever let someone elses' tractor leave without being paid for? Sounds to me like you owe the lady down the road $350 if you agreed to sell it for her for $700.

I am not sure I fully understand this thread, hope someone else does. Did you buy something for $88,000? I can see someone getting confused over a deal with you.

yes you are right I should had the money in hand but you would think dealing with the owner of a dealer ship and just buying a used tractor form him you could trust him and yes I did pay the lady the 350 I am not like jack plus I save jack a 4 hour drive to pick it up when his truck was in my yard dropping off my tractor I just bought from him a week before so have you every had any dealing with jack oldrocks,or blackhole49

Jack paid for what he got. If or when he gets the rest of the tractor he will pay for the rest of the tractor. I don't see where Jack is out of line. Let's turn it the other way around. You are probably an honest person who will live up to your word. Jack doesn't know that and won't assume you are honest because he works with customers who are trying to pull the wool over his eyes every day. He has learned to protect himself and not trust anyone's word. An $88,000 purchase is not a big purchase to a dealer. It will take a $500,000 or million dollar purchase to get his attention.

If you have the rest of the head and can get it to him it looks like he is willing to send the rest of the money. I don't know you are really out anything yet. I would try to get the parts to him, and then get your money. My guess is, if you have the parts, you are in good shape.
Did you call him to let him know you had a deal, even with the missing parts? Looks like if you get him the parts all will be well. Good luck - Bob

I toll jack the deal was as is ,and if and when I find the part s he will get them to not half now half later when or if I find the parts and he agreed to that I am sure he made more then 350 off me when I bought my tractor but maybe when people ask me how I like dealing with jacks dealer ship and I tell them what happen how much will he pay then maybe one sell a year or one sell in 5 years it will cost him at the end

Despite what everybody else says,I'd be ready to wring his neck too if you had a deal for $700 as it sat.

Periods are nice, but I was able to figure it out. Your mistake was in letting the B go without payment in hand.

The issue here is that he sold the tractor to the dealer AS-IS. That means to me that what is there is part of the deal, and what is missing is NOT. If he bought the tractor as-is, then he should have paid the agreed upon price AS-IS.

And to add a few comments about spelling and punctuation:

LEAVE THE GUY ALONE!!!!!!!!!

There aren't but a few of you that are all that good with your spelling and/or punctuation! I still have scorch marks from the one time that I commented about spelling and grammar. So, as far as I can see, ONE SET OF RULES applies to ALL equally. I got flamed for over a week.

How right you are on spelling and punctuation. I love to see the brain surgeons on here complaining about spelling or punctuation with errors in their own reply.

If this was a Harvard Law thesis, I could see, but a tractor discussion board???? I must be smarter than some cause I could understand it, at least the second time I read it...lol! Come on people - Bob

thanks jim and bob about spelling and punctuation I now guys would like to put thing on here or reply to some thing on here but do not because of there spelling and punctuation or do not look at this site anymore because of what other people have said to them about this matter so thanks again

I would tell him to bring the tractor back or pay the agreed upon $700 as is. If you have a way to pick it up yourself tell him you are giving him his money back and taking the tractor back. Bill

agree
I deal a lot just like described. When it leaves or arrives, a lot of time no money has changed hands yet. A deal is a deal, a man's word is enough with most people I deal with.
(agree also that the lady comes first...take care of her..the [i:061e011920]talk[/i:061e011920] between us deal makers will come later......)

to the original poster...don't worry about the post style..no problem here....some of the best wrenches and best people I know ain't gonna win no writing contests.

I've known the man mentioned for over 40 years years and haven't heard much bad about him....You don't stay in business as long as he has if your name is no good....I never let anything out of my yard until I have the cash in hand...
