Steering arm

I have a steering arm on a tractor that is wallered out, and I want to weld it and rebore it. The hole is tapered to accept a tie rod end. What is the degree of taper and how do they get that taper.?

you'll need to measure the taper on a known good tie rod stud. The taper is put in with a tapered reamer. Trying to run a reamer in a welded hole is going to be difficult, will need some soft weld to be able to cut it.
Any way to find a used arm?

Go and get another piece as welding and then cutting new again will be costly as you will need the shaft measured to see if it is worn also

If your set on re boring it braze it then ream.
me, I would get some shim stock and wrap the stud, maybe even wrap the stud with wax paper and JB weld it, it is a tractor.......
