Hog waterer

Anyone know where you can still get a stock tank with the hog watering inserts in it? I have one pen that is up against the bull pen that doesn't have a fount in it. Since neither pen is full time I'd like one of those stock tanks to take care of both. I have one farrowing pen that has an old leaky one and I love it. It sure is less to worry about and a submerged tank heater keeps it thawed just fine. I've never seen one at an auction that wasn't on the verge of disintegrating.

I think we're from the same general area. Have you tried calling Premier Farm in south Topeka or Tarwaters in north Topeka. The only other one I can think that might have them is Bluestem in Emporia. I don't know for sure they have them but they would come the closest that I can think of right now. I know I've seen them around here but I don't raise hogs so I didn't pay them much attention at the time and now can't remember for sure where I saw them.

I use 55 gallon plastic barrels. I get a hog nipple from the farm supply store. Take it apart and there is a punchable piece that allows enough water through under gravity. The hog nipples are 1/2 pipe thread. Drill a hole in the barrel and then put a small amount of pvc compound around the hole. Place the nipple threads through the hole. Tighten down a 1/2 pipe couple on the inside of the barrel.
This has worked well for me for about 6 years.
I prefer to put a hog cup on the barrel(drill holes, pvc compound, and bolt it to the barrel) then put the nipple in where the paddle should go. This keeps the hogs from wasting so much water and making a mess with the nipples.
