found out that a rearend and axle from a 98-2002 Lincoln /crwn vic or marquis are all perfect bolt on ,for the 2000lincoln ,. trouble is the yard don't have any that yr.. except for a cop car , and we have told they will not bolt in , don't know why ???, next best option is to repair what is in the Lincoln,,have not got it apart yet ,, we hope to match up the specific axle ,, part with one of the junk yard cars at dennys yard ,,,. does anyone knoew which parts could interchange ie ,the rite rear axle shaft,..also what yr air ride shoks will interchange between Lincoln , and marquis... many thanx guys ,, you gave me a lot of helpful response

I would look into the one you have, see if the housing is damaged where the bearing and seal fits in.

If the housing is good, and no other problems, keep the one you have, just repair it. New axle and bearing aren't that expensive. If the bearing failed be sure to clean all the glitter out, flush it best you can.

By keeping your existing rearend, you'll know it's the right ratio, save some money, and save some work. If you do have to change it, be sure the ratio is the same, open it up and take a look inside, might even pull the axles and look at the bearings. Just never know buying used parts.

As Steve said, I think it would be cheaper and easier to repair what you have . New axle, brg and seal . Check/change rear end lube and be done with it .
