I need to remove the front wheels off the tractor for new tires. Any ideas on where/how to properly jack the front end? (Unstyled JD A)

All I have are 2 x 4s, 3.5 ton floor jack, and heavy jack stands. A mobile hoist would be nice, but not available.

Thanks.

If it's a narrow front just run one wheel up on a board til the other is off the ground, then change
that one. When you are done do the other side.

I'm laughing at how ridiculously easy and obvious this is. One of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments.

A LOT easier than the way I do it.

Well if you think you have to do both at the same time go buy a 8 foot 8X8 or some such size beam then cut it up for cribbing. I have probably a good 15 or so pieces of that cut 2 foot long for jacking things like that

No bs! I was thinking the same thing when I read that John!!!

"DUH! I shoulda thought of that!!!" :p

Thanks for the idea John..... Bryce

and I'm laughing again because that's how I USED to do it!

Not that it's particulary hard to do, but it's time consuming.

I'm definitely trying the one side at a time approach next time I need to do it.

But that one side at a time does not work well if you have to do both tires and say you have to drive 50 miles one way which would make it take 3 or 4 times more time just in driving

Just make sure you have a good grip on the wheel, this is just the thing to tear the wheel from your hands and break a thumb.
