Which would be easiest to split

If you were trying to maximise space and had the choice to split either of the following three tractors to get them into the smallest possible container length which would be your first choice and why? The first tractor would be a JD 820 the second a Case 900 and the third a International 660. Im thinking two tractors nose to tail and the third split with engine front axle radiator stored maybe below or around the rear section of the third.

i would not split them , waste of time even though i can split a 660 in an hr.you will not gain any space anyhow. its how u park them. then you have to deal with manovering 1/2 tractors around.

Perhaps you could remove one of the front wheels and hubs of two of the tractors, the IH and Case, RH side of each and work them nose to nose and side by side by sliding one front axle under the other,so the third JD tractor would fit behind them.

If any of them are narrow fronts put them facing each other then the other in behind or in front of them. If one has a narrow front and one is set for 30 inch rows or less you can sew the narrow front in around the wide front till the wheels hit the oil pan on the one. Then the other in behind or in front of it all. I wouldn't split them. They will not go in a 20 foot container anyway. If things get tipped around the ones split will damage the radiator and delicate things anyway. Containers are not handled very gently.

Would it be far less work to remove the front axles on two if not all three tractors?
You could easily make a single wheel for each with a piece of flat steel bolted to the front of the tractor most anywhere underneath or even on the side, a chunk of pipe and steel caster wheel at the bottom so you can still move or drive them as necessary.
You wouldn't even need a jack. Just make the single wheeled pedastal/axle a bit taller than the original axle.
To mount it, just drive the front wheels up on some 2X4s, mount the single wheeled pedastal, back off the 2x4s and your original axle will be hanging in the air for removal.
This would give you more options for loading tightly in the container without all the wrenching.
Even easier would be to just purchase a heavy duty camper or trailer screw jack with a caster wheel at the bottom and mount it on the side of your front end. Then you can raise or lower your tractor height as need be to remove or reinstall your factory axle.

Thanks. But to find the easiest way to do something difficult, just ask the laziest person you know. :D
I was taught to work smarter, not harder. The older I get the less choice I have when my body hurts.
